Meet in T.O.

The Thousand Oaks-Westlake Village Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold an After Five Mixer from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wed., July 16 at Sotheby's International Realty, 971 S. Westlake Blvd., Ste. 100, Westlake Village.

The event will allow local business people to network with each other and Chamber members. Food will be provided by Cisco's Restaurant, and raffle prizes will be given.

Cost is $2 for Chamber members, $10 for nonmembers. No reservations are required.

Studio wins business award

Calabasas Chamber of Commerce member Aaron Mischel of Pixel Planet Photography Studio received the 2008 United Chambers of Commerce Small Business Award.

United Chambers recognized 16 nominees from Chambers located throughout the San Fernando Valley at its annual awards breakfast held recently in North Hollywood to honor the community's most proactive businesses.

Mischel received his bachelor of arts degree from Brooks Institute of Photography. In 2004, he joined with partners and opened Pixel Planet studio in Calabasas. Two years later he acquired his partners' interest in the company.

Chamber events

The Calabasas Chamber of Commerce has a full slate of events in July. For more information or to make a reservation, call (818) 222-5680.

•A networking breakfast will be from 7:15 to 8:45 a.m. Thurs., July 10 at a new location, the Hilton Garden Inn, 24150 Park Sorrento, Calabasas. The topic is "networking bingo."

The cost is $15 for members and $18 for first-time visitors.

•A business mixer will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thurs., July 17 at Las Virgenes Municipal Water District, 4232 Las Virgenes Road, Calabasas. Admission is free.

•A business-builder workshop and luncheon will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thurs., July 24 at Calabasas Country Club, 4515 Park Sorrento.

Susan Sommers will speak on "Creating a winning image."

The cost is $30 for members, $40 for nonmembers.

Top sales achiever earns award

Tamara Alcocer was recently awarded top honors as an Excellent Beginning Program Achiever for outstanding sales accomplishments and professionalism for lia sophia, a company that sells fashion jewelry through inhome demonstrations.

Alcocer achieved this honor in her first five weeks of joining the company for attaining certain sales levels and sharing lia sophia with other new advisers.

All new advisors have the opportunity to increase their earnings and earn free jewelry through this program, which celebrates the success of advisors who stay on track in the first four months in business.

The company provides monthly, quarterly and annual awards for its advisors.
