Young women attend leadership conference

Seminar founded by actor Hugh O'Brian

The Westlake Women's Club sponsored five local high school sophomores to attend the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership seminars at California Lutheran University earlier this month.

The students, selected by their high schools and sponsored by the Westlake Women's Council, were Jordan Briers, Westlake High School; Christina Burcelis, La Reina High School; Milli Desai, Agoura High School; Brett Hall, Oak Park High School; and Dana Seligman, Newbury Park High School.

The seminars were founded by Hugh O'Brian in 1958 and were inspired by Dr. Albert Schweitzer, who wrote "Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful."

O'Brian, who played the title role on "The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp," was present at the seminars, talking to students and taking photos with them.
