Student able to find the correct path
      Erin Viselman wasn't always valedictorian material. The Oak Park teen displayed behavioral problems, missed several days of school each week, and failed to do her homework. First-graders perform 'Really Rosie'
     CUTIES- First-graders at White Oak Elementary School perform the musical "Really Rosie" last week. The play, based on stories by Maurice Sendak with music by Carole King, teaches children that everyone has an imagination that can turn "boring" into "fascinating."

YMCA offers before-, after-school care
      The Triunfo YMCA is enrolling children from kindergarten through eighth grade in the fall before- and after-school childcare programs at area schools. The Y serves Oak Park, Agoura Hills and Westlake Village. Childcare hours are 6:30 a.m. through 6:30 p.m. The service is available on all school days, pupil-free days and minimum days.

Habitat for Humanity receives $1,000
     HELPING OUT- Calabasas High School's Coyote Habitat for Humanity campus chapter donates $1,000 to Habitat for Humanity International. The club raised the money through car washes, bake sales and garage sales. Women's club awards scholarships
      The Scholarship Committee of Westlake Women's Club awarded $20,000 in scholarship funds and music awards to graduating seniors from the seven Conejo Valley high schools and communication schools. The awards this year include a new scholarship, which was presented to Angelina Vitto of Newbury Park High School.

      Twelve young men and women from the 24th Congressional District have been accepted to U.S. military academies, representing six different high schools in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. Four local applicants were accepted to the Air Force Academy.

Series presents cooking as art
      Chef Alberto Vazquez of Mediterraneo restaurant in Westlake Village will host the restaurant's Culinary Arts Series for children and adults at the restaurant, 32037 Agoura Road, Westlake Village. Adults' classes will be held at 2 and 6 p.m. Children's classes will be at 11 a.m. for ages 5 to 8 and 2 p.m. for ages 9 to 12.

Scholar recognized
      Aaron Louis Levine of Oak Park has accepted membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. NSCS is the nation's only interdisciplinary honors organization for first and second-year college students. Membership is by invitation only, based on grade point average and class standing.
