OPEC: We're number two

In response to Keith Cornell's letter of June 12, I wish to correct his data regarding our oil sources. Fortunately there are so many online sources of these data, I was able to quickly collect current information from many sites and found that they all pretty much match up.

Yes, Canada is our number one source, but Mexico is number three. Mr. Cornell missed Saudi Arabia as our number two source of oil. Saudi Arabia is one of the 12 or so members of OPEC which, combined, supplies us almost two times the amount of oil as Canada and Mexico combined.

I think that we need to concentrate our efforts, not on coming up with skewed numbers to bash any one political candidate, but on focusing on viable and realistic alternate sources of energy. Linda Thompson Calabasas
