Oaks Christian seniors prepare for tomorrow
      Oaks Christian School's motto, "Preparing minds for leadership and hearts for service," was a theme that carried throughout the school's June 5 commencement in Westlake Village. It was visible in the gift the senior class presented to the school.

Senior gives service to school, mission trips
      As a triplet, James Peterson was born to be a team player. The Oaks Christian High School senior started life teamed up with his siblings Paul and Molly. At their Westlake Village school, he has helped to coordinate teams to build homes for the disadvantaged population in Mexico, as well as serving as a leader in his freshman, junior and senior classes.

Calabasas showcases student films
      The fourth annual Calabasas High School Film Festival took place June 6 in the CHS theater, giving students a chance to showcase their work and receive recognition in a variety of categories, including screenplay, editing, costume, makeup, visual effects and cinematography.

Learning through television
      The students in Eric Tally's thirdgrade class at Sumac Elementary School in Agoura Hills learned about the solar system recently and taped a television show that demonstrated their knowledge. The 22 students broke up into "pods" of twos and threes, each with a different planet to explore.

Broadway stars in training
     SUSAN WACHTEL Special to The Acorn SCHOOL PLAY- Students from Mrs. Lampert's and Mrs. Pepperdine's first grade classes at White Oak Elementary School in Westlake Village perform the classic "The Ugly Duckling." The children in the play learned the lesson of being who you are and not worrying about the outside appearances.
