Serendipidous reunion

I was astounded to see in the May 29 Moorpark Acorn a bagpiper named Wally Boggess on the cover. It said he is a Moorpark resident, who played his pipes at the Memorial Day ceremony in Westlake Village. What it did not say was that he taught biology at Simi Valley High School, where I graduated in 1984. He was a very influential teacher in my life.

It really is a small world, after all. Wally, if you are reading this, please accept the thanks of a grateful student you probably forgot long ago. And thanks to The Acorn, which unknowingly reconnected this reader to his past.

In a nutshell: A bagpiper at a Memorial Day service for Thousand Oaks/Westlake Village, featured on the front page of the Moorpark edition, spotted by an Agoura Hills resident who was the piper's former student at Simi High.

It is this kind of community coverage that makes The Acorn unique and invaluable. Darrell Lee Agoura Hills
