A case of misplaced priorities Every cycle we find ourselves choosing between the frying pan and the fire but this one takes the cake. I laughed out loud reading the campaign garbage sent by Fran Pavley raving about melting polar ice caps and carbon credits vs. Lightbulb Lloyd Levine, the fruit cake from Van Nuys, who proposed an all out statewide ban on the incandescent light bulb. Don't these people know that the equity in our homes is melting faster than polar ice caps? Julia Brownley, Pavely's hand picked replacement in the assembly, just voted in favor of a "point of sale mandate" that requires anyone selling a home in California to cough up an additional $400 for an "energy audit" which in turn will enable the enviro-police to dictate yet more expenses making the sale of your home more difficult and expensive. Although I believe Levine to be a certified kook, I don't think I can hold my nose hard enough to vote for Pavely either. It was largely Old Agoura that brought Fran "to the dance" and after years of unerring support for her candidacy, this alleged champion of open space and the environment has been missing in action on the Heschel issue, throwing her loyal supporters to the wolves. I don't know or care much about judges and new parcel taxes come around as often as elections, so I may just stay home. When the USA tips over from so many people and businesses fleeing California, remember, you heard it here. Larry Brown Agoura Hills |
