Drugs in the drinking water are miniscule
      There has been a great deal of talk about prescription drugs in our drinking water. New testing techniques have made it easier to detect minute compounds in our water supplies. Some say that there is no such thing as pure water- it is only as pure as you can test.

Coal at is least better than oil
      In the May 8 Acorn cartoon, D. Austin writes "What's wrong with the electric car?" and then depicts coal being pumped into an electric car. This is a tired notion that coal is the sole source of electricity and therefore we are merely trading oil for coal in our urgent need to get off our foreign addiction to oil.

Young scientists
      Congratulations to all the White Oak Elementary student scientists who transformed the school multipurpose room, for one evening, into a science museum. Students, their family members and their friends explored the mysteries of plant growth, meteorites, magnetism, electricity, germs and more in a collaborative celebration of science.
