Chabad to host services for Shavuot

Chabad centers will host Shavuot services Sun. through Tues., June 8 to 10. Shavuot commemorates the revelation to the Jewish nation at Mt. Sinai and the giving of the Ten Commandments.

The celebration begins with an all-night Tikkun Lail Shavuot study session starting at midnight Sunday. Coffee and refreshments will be served throughout the evening.

Evening services will take place at 7:30 p.m. June 8 and 9, along with morning services at 10 a.m. June 9 and 10.

The highlight of the services will take place at 10 a.m. Mon., June 9 when the Ten Commandments will be read. Children and others will be treated to "Mt. Sinai ice cream cones" with choice of toppings. A sit down dairy lunch will follow, featuring homemade cheese cake and a family pizza party.

All services will take place at all six centers: Calabasas Chabad, 3871 Old Topanga Canyon Road; Chabad of Agoura Hills, 30345 Canwood St.; Chabad of Oak Park, 5998 Conifer St.; Chabad of Westlake Village, 2524 Townsgate Road, Ste. H; Chabad of Thousand Oaks, 2060 Avenida de las Arboles, Ste. I, and Chabad of Newbury Park, 380 Via de la Mesa.
