Taxpayer input is requested

The Los Angeles Department of Public Works is asking for the public's opinion on projects designed to restore native habitats and improve beach and creek water quality.

The workshop is June 10th from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District Headquarters.

The projects, which address water quality, coastal creek habitats and drought vulnerability due to limited recycled and potable water supplies, would be funded by a combination of local and state voter-approved bonds.

"Stream quality funding is primarily paid through taxes and propositions," said Alex Farassati, Calabasas environmental services manager. "We would like our taxpayers to weigh in on projects and understand how local governments set their priorities."

The workshop is open to the public. Call (818) 251-2200 to confirm a reservation. The Las Virgenes Water District Headquarters is at 4232 Las Virgenes Road in Calabasas.
