Meeting aims to empower women

Mothers and More will host an "Empowering women/self defense" meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tues., June 10 at the Westlake Village Civic Center, 31200 E. Oak Crest Drive, Westlake Village.

Guest speaker Jodie King will discuss risk reduction, risk avoidance, risk recognition and empowerment. She will also give hints to teach children.

King is a retired police officer and founder of the Women's Self Defense and Empowerment Group.

The event is free and open to the public.
