Follow PCH construction
The California Department of Transportation and cities of Los Angeles, Malibu and Santa Monica have announced the launch of a Pacific Coast Highway construction information website, www.PCHPartners.org.
Known as PCH Partners, the city/agency consortium designed the website to serve as the primary source of public information about pending construction projects planned on the coastal road.
The projects are scheduled to begin this spring with estimated completion in 2011. The projects will take place at different locations along an 11-mile corridor of PCH between the McClure Tunnel in Santa Monica and Cross Creek Road in Malibu.
PCH Partners was formed in order to address public concerns about the numerous infrastructure and water quality projects that had been planned and scheduled along PCH.
The partnership will share information as well as develop welldefined traffic management plans and post regular project updates on the website. The goal of the partnership is to mitigate traffic congestion as best as possible through the coordination and communication of construction activities.
"We feel that this partnership will enhance the ability to inform the public as to what is happening in a timely manner for projects that may impact Pacific Coast Highway," Malibu Public Works Superintendent Richard Calvin said.
The website will provide and update the public with background information, news, maps and construction schedules. Contact information for each of the distinct projects will be provided for each of the respective oversight agencies to keep the public and commuters informed about status of construction, lane closures and detours.
