Students learn the environment

This week, Las Virgenes Community Learning Center (CLC) students experienced their first hike in a new program with the outstanding Mountains Recreation Conservation Agency (MRCA) naturalists.

As a parent who attended the program, I observed the students' excitement build as MRCA naturalists encouraged the children to use all five senses in learning about the eco-system of our local Santa Monica mountains.

This unique program that the MRCA developed for the CLC will consist of handson classroom lessons and bi-weekly group hikes. I would like to express incredible gratitude the city of Calabasas, the MRCA and our school leadership (teachers, parents and staff) for their vision and support in bringing this innovative, groundbreaking program to our elementary school.
