Agoura Hills pays the price of progress The City Council's secret machinations regarding the resolute and systematic destruction of the charming character of Agoura Hills is a contemptible travesty clear for all to see, such as that Caterpillar tractor poised like some obscene and yellow monstrous insect on the hill. What a humiliating and degrading spectacle. Maybe that's what Agoura Hills is all about from this point on. Who gave the City Council the right to go behind our backs and transform Agoura Hills into a lamentable version of Westlake Village East? Who gave them the right to mutilate our mountains and assassinate our oaks? To erect office buildings as colossal monuments to greed? And when did our so-called "mayor" declare open season on Agoura Hills to developers interested only in despoiling our environment so as to serve their own ends? Such attitudes are at best unacceptable and at worst, unforgivable. It still is not too late for us to tell the City Council and that man who calls himself our mayor to retrieve what little is left of their collective conscious and stop this insane and misguided "progress" before it is too late. Shame on them for thinking they can get away with it. Peter H. Brothers Agoura Hills |
