White Oak Elementary third-graders go back in time
     LIVING HISTORY- As part of a recent class project. White Oak Elementary School third-grade students and teachers play the part of immigrants entering the United States through Ellis Island. Students researched their family backgrounds and and went through the steps of real immigration, including changing money and mailing letters back home. Some were put in "quarantine," or even in "jail."

Valley Fair offers free admission to youth groups
      The Valley Fair is offering free admission to youth organizations from Los Angeles and Ventura counties on opening day, June 26. The fair is at the Saugus Speedway, 22500 Soledad Canyon, Santa Clarita. Fair hours are 4 to 10 p.m. Thurs., June 26; 1 to 11 p.m. Fri., June 27; noon to 11 p.m. Sat., June 28 and noon to 10 p.m. Sun., June 29.

Wedding bells
     LOVEBIRDS- Katie Burnett of Agoura Hills is engaged to Steven Silva of San Diego. Katie is a 2001 graduate of Agoura High School and 2005 graduate of San Diego State University. Steven is a graduate of University of Massachusettes and is a student at California Western School of Law. The couple will wed in San Diego in November.

Beach party is theme at church camp
      "Beach Party" is the theme for Vacation Bible School scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon June 23 to 27 at the United Methodist Church of Westlake Village, 1049 S. Westlake Blvd. The program is open to chil dren ages 4 through grade six (current). Activities include singing, crafts and a mission project to help children "surf through the scriptures.
