Scouts sponsor Monopoly contest The Ventura County Council Boy Scouts of America will host the second annual and officially sanctioned Monopoly Tournament in Ventura County at St. Paschal Babylon Catholic Church, 155 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and is open to the public. The event also includes a raffle, silent auction, and refreshments for purchase. The tournament will have two 90-minute rounds. The top six scoring players will move on to the final championship round. The tournament winner will receive a cash prize and be eligible to compete for the California state title, on the way to national and world titles. National Monopoly Champion Matt McNally is the celebrity guest host. He will serve as the head judge and host a "Winning at Monopoly" strategy session for young, inexperienced players prior to the tournament. Player cost is $45 for adults, $35 for children age 15 and under, and $125 for a team of four. Advance registration is requested, but tickets may be purchased at the door. All pre-registered players will receive a complimentary lunch and T-shirt. Proceeds will benefit the Ventura County Councils' Endowment Fund and the Scholarship Fund for Disadvantaged Scouts in Ventura County. For more information or to sign up, go to www.bsamonopoly.com. |
