Gramicci's green line applauded

Gramicci, an Agoura Hillsbased company, was named by Apparel Magazine as one of the top 50 innovators in the outdoor apparel industry for its sustainable and organic clothing line, the Greenicci collection.

Introduced in 2006, the Greenicci line is made of hemp, certified organic cotton or recycled materials, or blends of each.

Now accounting for approximately 35 percent of the company's sales, the line includes items for men and women, such a polo shirts, shorts, T-shirts, skirts and pants.

Beyond the Greenicci line, Apparel's editors stated that four-fifths of the company's packaging and hangtags are made of certified recycled, chlorine-free papers printed with soy ink.

Corporate business practices stress a commitment to the environment, such as a mandate that all business reports and presentations are produced paperfree, which reduces internal paper use by 70 percent.

The firms named to the list were nominated by apparel companies and industry vendors. More than 100 nominations were received.

Gramicci headquarters are at 28720 Canwood St. in Agoura Hills. Also visit the company website, www.gramicci.com.
