CIF-SS Division I baseball playoffs have arrived

      Four area teams took different routes but ended up at the same place- the CIF-Southern Section Division I baseball playoffs. Westlake High won only three of its final 11 Marmonte League games, the most important victory being last Friday's postseason play-in game triumph over Moorpark.

Marmonte League well represented in Division I softball bracket

      Expectations are high for area softball teams heading into Friday's first round of the CIFSouthern Section playoffs. In Division I, five schools from the eight-team Marmonte League made the postseason, including topseeded and undefeated Simi Valley High (27-0).

Oak Park lacrosse team wraps up winning season

      New environment, nearly the same results. Although this past season was the first time the Oak Park High lacrosse team was affiliated with the school- as opposed to playing as a nonaffiliated club team- the Eagles continued to have success in the sport.

Volleyball teams advance
      The boys' volleyball teams from Oak Park, Oaks Christian and Viewpoint have all qualified for the CIF-Southern Section quarterfinals. In Division IV, Oak Park de feated Whittier Christian on the road Tuesday and will play Cerritos at home Friday at 7 p.m.

Patriots primed for postseason run
      Liberty League champion Viewpoint (14-8) is looking for another strong showing in the CIF-Southern Section Division VII baseball playoffs. Coming off last season's runnerup finish and the departure of six key seniors, Patriot head coach Frank Pontello rallied his troops and put together another fine regular season.
