LVUSD surveys parents

The Las Virgenes Unified School District's first online parent survey will come to a close Mon., June 2. The survey is accessible through the district's home page or in hard copy from any school site or the district office in Calabasas.

There are separate surveys addressing elementary, middle and high school, Superintendent Donald Zimring said.

The survey enables parents to sound off on many topics, including the curriculum offered at their child's school, homework loads, access to technology and the effectiveness of teachers, counselors and administrators.

"We are fortunate to live in a community which supports education and has high expectations for the services we offer," Zimring said. "It is important that we provide opportunities and access for parents to tell us where we are strong and where we can grow."

The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete and represents a collaborative effort from parent leadership from each of the schools, district administration, union leadership, as well as other highachieving school districts which routinely conduct parent surveys.

Dr. Heidi Christensen from the Ventura County Office of Education's Testing and Assessment Division created the online survey, Zimring said.

Copies of the survey are also available in Spanish. For further information on participating in the survey, call the district office at (818) 880-4000 or visit www.lvusd.org.
