No good reason to cut down tree

I guess you could title this letter "It's not about the tree, It's about the character." I read with dismay your editorial last week about the black walnut tree in Old Agoura.

I live in Old Agoura and I pass by that corner several times a day. I watched this whole mess unfold and thought to myself there must be a good reason for cutting down this tree: "it must be sick or weakened by pests, so much so that it must be cut down in the interest of public safety."

After reading your article I realized the only "weak" thing about this is character of the Hillels. There was clearly no good reason for this act. There are approximately 400 residents in Old Agoura who would make up the majority of the Hillels' customer base should they ever get a commercial project approved at this site. Some did not oppose their project; as a matter of fact, I was indifferent.

Now I am questioning how could they perform such a vindictive act and clearly "thumb their nose" at the very residents they intend to service in the future. Suffice to say the character of these two "businessmen" is clearly questionable, and you will not find myself, or the rest of my family as customers at any business they should operate.
