The Hillel brothers exercised their property rights and cut down a landmark walnut tree in Old Agoura. As your opinion piece mentioned, it was inevitable because "nature has to pay the price of progress." Progress had nothing to do with it. The Hillel brothers had every opportunity to bring an appropriate development project forward. More ... As an Israeli American who has lived in Agoura for many years, I take exception to your article about the axed walnut tree. My objection is that you threw in a quote that called attention to the developers' nationality. I fail to understand what relevance their Israeli background has to this story. But there's another debate going on too, one that isn't focused so much on who should lead, but how they should do it. And many people, like me, are asking "What exactly does it mean to be a 'leader' anyway? More ... I am writing to express my opinion regarding the Saturday detention "work program" at Lindero Canyon Middle School. My son was recently given this punishment for a school infraction. I understand that if he didn't follow school rules, he should very well be reprimanded and made to give up four hours of his Saturday. Beginning at 8 a.m. More ... Letters RSS feed |
