ASPCA reminds that April is Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month
      Many generations of animals have lived safer, happier lives because of the founding of one important organization. In 1866, Henry Bergh responded to the animal cruelty of his time by establishing what was the first humane organization in North America, The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Dog owner warns about poisonous pesticides

      Two weeks ago, our family suffered a tragedy with the loss of our beloved dog, Jake. It was a warm Sunday afternoon, the first one of the season. We had a few hours for gardening and proceeded to fertilize the roses. First went the bone meal, then the fertilizer pellets, then the mulch on top.

Good therapy
     GIDDY UP- Jeff Ferguson, a volunteer with the Handicapped Equestrian Learning Program at Pete Peters' ranch in Moorpark, helps Lexi Gray, 17, before her weekly therapeutic horseback ride.
