Calabasas will celebrate Earth Day at reopened creek

Calabasas' Earth Day celebration is Sat., April 26 and will combine fun family activities with tips on how residents can help the environment.

The event will be at the recently opened Las Virgenes Creek restoration site on Agoura Road.

"Every year millions of people worldwide participate in Earth Day events to show their concern for the planet's environment and natural resources," said Dana Blackburn of the city's environmental services department. "The city of Calabasas has designed its Earth Day celebration to take a positive and proactive approach at showing residents different ways they can help out the environment."

Members of the Calabasas City Council will be on hand to talk about the city's environmental initiatives. Exhibits, learning booths and lectures will also serve as learning tools for the community.

The Acoustic River Band will provide live music, and The Nature of Wildworks, a wild animal rescue organization, will host two live animal presentations.

The event is free of charge. Visit www.cityofcalabasas.com, or call (818) 878-4225 for more information.
