Oak Park students get a head start in choosing their careers
      Known for its reputation of academically preparing students for college, Oak Park High School is now adding another step to help teens plan for the future. The new majors program, to take effect in the fall, will allow students to pursue an interest in a specific career through job shadows, internships and structured coursework.

Sumac celebrates Dr. Seuss' birthday
Students came in pj's to annual breakfast
      Teachers, students and parents rolled out of bed and into Sumac Elementary School's multipurpose room last week to chow down on pancakes, celebrate everything Dr. Seuss, and raise money for school and community programs. The school community came to the student council-sponsored March 14 event dressed in pajamas, fuzzy slippers and comfy robes.

Library offers online practice tests
      The Ventura County Library is offering LearningExpress Library, a new online test preparation database to help students overcome testtaking anxiety. To access the database, go to www.vencolibrary.org and click on "Databases," "Research" or "Homework." The library's electronic resources collection is arranged by subject and listed alphabetically.
