Conejo Valley teams excel in soccer, baseball
     THE HEAT IS ON- The Inferno, a U-10 AYSO girls' team from Region 4 (Agoura, Westlake, Oak Park and Calabasas) won the Section 10 championship in Bakersfield and advance to the state tournament next month, also in Bakersfield. Marmonte softball teams dominating non-league foes
      Early season results suggest the Marmonte League is going to be a powerhouse in high school softball this year. Through Tuesday's games, according to MaxPreps.com, the league's eight schools had compiled a 24-9 overall record.

Local lacrosse action heats up
      With an 8-7 win over Agoura last week, Newbury Park (2-0) closed to within a win of first place in the Southern California Lacrosse Association's Conejo Valley Varsity League. Although Agoura (3-1) lost its first game of the season, they also beat Calabasas 12-4 earlier in the week to remain a game ahead of Newbury Park in the win column.

      The Tri-Valley League has announced its All-League teams for boys' and girls' basketball, boys' and girls' soccer, and girls' water polo. Many area athletes were recognized for their excellent achievements this winter.

Marmonte's finest athletes honored for wintertime work
      Call it a clean sweep for the Simi Valley High boys' basketball team. Simi Valley seniors Lorne Jackson and Michael Meza have been named co-Players of the Year in the Marmonte League. Jackson was also honored as Ventura County Most Valuable Player by CaliforniaPreps.com.
