National Charity League to host fashion show
The program not only provides the girls with experience in public speaking and social skills, but it is also a community service project to raise funds for the therapeutic recreation program in Thousand Oaks. Bowling Bash will benefit local charities The Westlake Village Junior Women's Club will hold a Bowling Bash fundraiser from 7 to 11 p.m. Sat., March 8 at Harley's Simi Bowl, 480 E. Los Angeles Ave., Simi Valley. The event will feature music, a buffet dinner catered by Wood Ranch Barbecue and Grill, and dessert donated by SusieCakes in Calabasas. A variety of contests will be held, and prizes will be given. There will also be a silent auction including items such as tickets to ABC's "Dancing With The Stars," spa and beauty treatments, a weekend getaway at the Westlake Village Inn, dinners at local restaurants, celebrity memorabilia, photography sessions and tickets to sporting events. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $50, which includes the buffet dinner. Proceeds from the event will be donated to local charities. Republican women plan luncheon with retired general The Westlake Village Republican Women Federated will host a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Wed., March 12 at the Westlake Village Inn, 31943 Agoura Road in Westlake Village. The meeting's guest speaker will be retired Brig. Gen. Michael Teilmann. The cost of the luncheon is $35. Space is limited. Spring speaker series underway Mary Pallant's Ventura County Speaker Series has announced its lineup for spring. Unless otherwise noted, all events will begin at 7 p.m. and take place at the Oak Park Community Center, 1000 N. Kanan Road. John Rauh, founder and president of Americans for Campaign Reform, will speak Fri., March 14 at the CLU Lundring Event Center. On Fri., April 11, "Framing the Future" author Bernie Horn will give a talk. Jeffrey Feldman, author of "Framing the Debate" and founder of Frameshopa political blog, will speak Fri., May 30. Stephanie Miller, a talk show host on Air America, will give a talk Fri., June 20. All talks are open to the public. A $3 donation is requested.
