Slow and steady in relationships
      Great works of art often begin with an inspired idea and intense passion. The artist is consumed with an attempt to translate this onto paper or canvas or whatever medium is familiar. He or she will work long hours immersed in the process and progress of creation, sometimes experiencing a tremendous ease but more likely enduring periods of stubborn blocks.

Rotary Club's 'Magic' to fill the night
      The Rotary Club of Camarillo will host "An Evening of Magic" at 8 p.m. Sat., March 15 at the High Street Arts Center, 45 High St. in Moorpark. Local magician Paul Dwork is producing the show for the 22nd year. Proceeds from the show will benefit Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Ventura County.

      Children in the Church of the Brethren are invited to submit their ideas on reducing global hunger. A new Kid's Regnuh Poster Project invites children ages 6 to 14 to illustrate ways people can better respond to the world's 1 billion people who lack adequate food.

Teacher of the Year Award accepting candidates
Educators, students, parents can submit nominations
      Teachers' Insurance Plan has opened nominations for the California 2007-2008 Teacher of the Year Award of $1,000 to the winner and $500 to that teacher's school. The state winner will be eligible for the National TOTY Award which includes special recognition and a $2,500 travel certificate.
