Alzheimer's office extends hours
      The Camarillo office of the Alzheimer's Association will be open additional hours the first Saturday of every month, beginning Feb. 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The extra hours will help reach caregivers who are not able to visit during regular business hours.

Plush toys donated to Los Robles
      Miss Ventura County's Outstanding Teen Chaya Turrow has partnered with Our Community House of Hope to donate 50 plush puppies to Los Robles Regional Medical Center for distribution to patients in need of comforting. Turrow, 15, a sophomore at Moorpark High School, received her title in October 2007.

Vaccinations urged for preteens
      The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has proclaimed this week Preteen Vaccine Week to highlight the importance of immunizations and regular doctor visits for 11 and 12year-olds. "California's youth are our greatest asset and protecting their health is our responsibility," said Jonathan E. Fielding, MD, public health director and county health officer.
