Is it winter . . . or spring?

FICKLE--It's that strange, in-between time once again when Mother Nature can't seem to make up her mind. One moment we're lighting the fireplace and brewing cocoa, the next we're getting out our flipflops and planning our spring garden. Above, preschool student Jenna LaCosta, 4, enjoys an afternoon of imported winter during "snow day," Jan. 14, at Cornerstone Preschool in Agoura Hills.  Below, Oak Park
resident Kate Frankson prepares her plot at the Oak Park
Gardeners Park on Kanan Road, staking the locations of the
vegetables she'll be planting for spring. In the background,
trees and shrubs display a healthy green appearance thanks to
the recent rainstorms. The Oak Park Gardeners are holding a
meeting this evening to allow members to vote on their new
                  board of directors.
