Ventura theater features improv shows

The Livery Theatre, housed in the historic Livery, 34 N. Palm St. in downtown Ventura, is home to Ventura Area TheatreSports, a nonprofit performance and educational improvisational theater group in existence since 1989.

TheatreSports is an international organization whose improvisational style was developed by Keith Johnstone.

Improv shows are presented every Friday and Saturday from 8 to 10 p.m.

On most Friday nights, individuals compete for audience votes as the funniest contestant. Spring Tournament with judges begins Feb. 1.

Saturday night TheatreSports feature two teams competing in front of a panel of judges.

The Livery is also home to classes in children's improv, dance and other movement, as well as host to various musical and theater events.
