Shops are just another strip mall
      My husband and I just stopped by the planning office to take a look at the plans for The Shops at Oak Creek. I'm sorry to say that we were very disappointed. It looks like another strip mall, complete with a sea of parking, and we were hoping to get away from more of the same.

      In our society apparently everything has to be homogenized, corporate and/or upscale with outrageous rent, including what is the only original compound with character in Agoura Hills: Whizin's.

City must make room for lowincome residents
      I am responding to letters from James Prieger and Shari Goodman (Dec. 20). My main purpose for writing to The Acorn on Dec. 13 was to object to the lack of humanity and social justice on behalf of Edwin Locke "the Scrooge"- it was not so much to contest the fact that the middle class pays most of the taxes.

      Dori Harrison Clements is the mother of a 16-year-old son with intercranial hypertension. Dori stepped forward to put words into action by recognizing that she wanted intercranial hypertension research to benefit her son and others suffering from this most painful, vision-threatening and disabling disorder.

HOA's out of control
      I'm a resident of Country Meadows I, a townhome community in Oak Park. We have, in my opinion, a homeowners association that is out of control and arbitrary in their enforcement of the HOA rules.

Meal for homeless was a success
      I would like to thank everyone who helped make this year's Holiday Turkey Meal for the homeless, poor or lonely on Christmas Day a fantastic success. I estimated that we fed approximately 330 souls that day, not including the people who benefited from the contribution of leftovers made to the Oxnard Rescue Mission.
