City to replace Lost Hills bridge
      The Calabasas City Council has approved a $20million agreement with Caltrans to replace the bridge on Lost Hills Road over the 101 Freeway. The current bridge has only two lanes and is 4 feet lower than a standard bridge.

Calabasas Chamber names Ridley new chairman
      The Calabasas Chamber of Commerce announced its new board of directors for 2008, led by chairman Douglas Ridley, a lawyer from the Agoura Hills firm of Quisenberry, Ridley & Shiffman. The Chamber will introduce its new board and announce the winner of the Bill Van Gieson Memorial Award for community service at a Jan. 26 installation ceremony in Calabasas.

Voter deadline nears for Feb. 5 primary
Absentee voting already underway
      The 2008 California presidential primary is less than a month away, but there's still time to register to vote. The registration deadline is Tues., Jan. 22. Voter registration forms are available at all city halls, fire stations, public libraries, post offices and Chambers of Commerce.

Westlake High students march in Rose Parade
      There were some familiar faces marching up Colorado Boulevard in the 119th Tournament of Roses Parade, held New Year's Day in Pasadena. Four Westlake High School students were among the 240 members of the Pasadena City College Tournament of Roses Honor Band.

Triunfo YMCA launches Model United Nations
Teamwork, public speaking, leadership and negotiation skills are developed

Bridal exhibit planned
      The Bridal Premiere, a day of wedding exhibits and fashion shows, will celebrate its 25th anniversary on Sun., Jan. 13 at the annual Hyatt Westlake Plaza bridal show. Exhibit hours are from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and fashion shows are scheduled for 12:30 and 3 p.m.

      Assistance League of Conejo Valley helped provide new school clothing and shoes to 1,160 elementary school children. Assistance League volunteers helped the children and their families make their selections, stay within the limit of their shopping vouchers, and get through checkout with all their purchases.

      Eileen Baer Kahn of Oak Park announced the engagement of her son, Arthur Joseph (A.J.) to Linda Leigh Roberts, daughter of Wonetta Statley and Virgel Roberts. A.J. Kahn is the son of the late Robert (Bob) Kahn. He is a real estate broker and appraiser.
