U-12 girls feeling good about themselves
     UNDEFEATED- The Real So Cal Blue Girls U-12 team recently competed in the 2007 Coast Soccer League Cup Tournament along with 131 other teams from Southern California. The team went undefeated and had only one goal scored against them during the tourney. Front row, Stephanie Diaz, Julia Herbkersman, Dana Fujikuni, Julia Mannisto, Paige Conway, Kaitlyn Pitcher and Hannah Finchamp. YMCA open
      Branches of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA will host a "Discover the Y" open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sat., Jan. 5. The free events will feature games and activities for the kids. Hosting the open houses are the Conejo Valley YMCA at 4031 N.

Hypertension on rise in L.A. County
'Silent killer' up 7 percent
      Hypertension, the silent killer, is on the rise among Los Angeles County adults. A report issued by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health indicates that the percentage of adults countywide who have been diagnosed with hypertension increased from 18 percent in 1997 to 25 percent in 2005.

Lupus support group to meet
      A support group for people with lupus will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tues., Jan. 8 at One Baxter Way, Westlake Village. Friends and families are also invited to attend. Paula Getty-Shearer will speak on "Dispelling the myths of hypnotherapy" and discuss techniques for relaxation and pain control.

Scouts enjoy healthy outdoor fun
     ICE IS NICE- Kayla Weisbecker and Daniela Fernandez of Girl Scout Troop No. 84 spend an afternoon skating during a field trip to The Lakes in Thousand Oaks. Troop members also filled 375 backpacks with donated items. The bags will be distributed to charities. Both girls are in fourth grade at St. Jude the Apostle School in Westlake Village
