Year in sports proved twice as nice for Agoura High

JANN HENDRY/Acorn Newspapers TOP GUNS- Members of the Agoura High girls water polo team celebrate after winning the CIF Division II title in March.
The Agoura girls' and boys' water polo teams turned 2007 into something special by winning CIF-Southern Section titles in the same year.

In March, the Charger girls beat top-seeded Laguna Beach 11-10 in the CIFSS Division II championship match at Long Beach. It was the second CIF-SS title in program history, the first coming in 2001.

In November, the Agoura boys' team won the CIF-SS Division IV title by beating Mira Costa 8-6 in Irvine. It was the first time a team from the Marmonte League won the boys' championship since Royal High in 1995.

The cheers in Calabasas came during football season as the Coyote team finally ended its 44game losing streak, the thirdlongest losing streak in state history and a mark that dated back to November 2002. In late September the Coyotes won a road game at Channel Islands, 28-14.
