Agoura task force good idea, but . . .

The Agoura Hills City Council task force is an excellent idea to "improve the business climate in the city." An immediate first and easy step towards that goal would be to encourage business owners and council members to shop Agoura Hills. I have had interactions with two of the individuals mentioned in your article of Dec. 6 who chose to take their retail purchases to adjacent communities.

The first person is a current councilman who had an eye examination in my office. He advised me that he buys his eyeglasses at a discount optical outlet in a neighboring city.

I was a steady and long-term patron of one of the business owners assigned to the task force. My expenditures in his establishment were estimated at close to $10,000 over the course of many years of purchases. This individual left my optical dispensary to buy prescription lens at another discount eyeglass store to save approximately $25.

The business climate in the city certainly needs improvement. I encourage all business owners, their employees, and our council members to spend their money at local Agoura Hills locations. This is the least that they should do. David Halpert Agoura Hills
