Her facts about taxes aren't correct

I find it reprehensible that Patricia Ahmad resorts to namecalling a member of our community in her desire to score a point. I do not know Edwin Locke, but I believe it was mean spirited for Ahmad to take it upon herself to select him "Scrooge of the Year."

Furthermore, Ms. Ahmad misrepresented the facts when she claims that the rich "only pay 7 percent of the taxes." In reality, the top 45 percent of wage earners pay over 53 percent of taxes. The top 10 percent pay nearly 65 percent of taxes and the top 50 percent of wage earners pay 96 percent of taxes. Thus, the bottom 50 percent is paying virtually very little in taxes, yet these are the people who the Democrats seek to want to give tax cuts.

Ms. Ahmad had the right to advance her Democratic socialist ideology but she does not have the right to tamper with the facts in her quest to redistribute the wealth. Shari Goodman Calabasas
