Oak Park considers outdoor smoking ban

The Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District board of directors is calling for public input regarding proposed smoking restrictions at district parks in the Oak Park community.

Last May the board approved the restriction of smoking in all parks in Simi Valley. The Oak Park Recreation and Park Planning Committee approved the proposed smoking restrictions at the parks in Oak Park at their meeting in July.

The board and the committee are now seeking input from the community of Oak Park regarding the smoking issue at the regularly scheduled board of director's meeting to be held at 7 p.m., Thurs., Jan. 17 at the Oak Park Community Center and Gardens, 1000 N. Kanan Road in Oak Park.

The parks proposed as smoke-free are: Chaparral Park, Deerhill Park, Eagle View Park, Indian Springs Park, Mae Boyer Park, Medea Creek Park, Oak Canyon Community Center & Gardens and Valley View Park
