Make-A-Wish Foundation wraps up miles campaign

The MakeAWish Foundation of the TriCounties completed its "Giving Miles, Making Smiles" campaign that ran from Oct. 3 to Dec. 7. Seven different campaigns were run by groups throughout the area, including schools, workplaces, churches and groups of friends.

Dustin Griffes helped the Newbury Park High School Christian Club educate the public about the foundation's need for miles.

Michelle Kramer started a group in the Conejo Valley and was able to bring in more than 25,000 frequent flier miles for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

At the close of the campaign, the miles raised totaled 508,814.

More than half of the wishes granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Tri-Counties involve travel. Locally, 12 million frequent flier miles are needed each year, and only 1 million are donated.

To donate miles, call Thanh Nguyen at (805) 676-9474, ext. 2, or email tnguyen@tricounties.wish.org.
