Christmas Eve service on national television CBS and the National Council of Churches will celebrate Christmas Eve with a TV special at Marble Collegiate Church, the nation's oldest Protestant ministry and historic landmark in New York City. The nationwide broadcast, produced by MarbleVision in cooperation with the NCC, is scheduled for 11:30 p.m. PST on Mon., Dec. 24 on participating CBS stations. Check local listings. Hosted by Oscarwinning actress Marcia Gay Harden, this one-hour special includes such classic Christmas favorites as "O Come All Ye Faithful," "The First Noel," "Go Tell it On The Mountain," "Joy to the World," and "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" performed by Marble's choirs. Also included are stories from the senior minister, the Rev. Arthur Caliandro. Tenor Johan Botha and American soprano Camellia Johnson also join the choirs for renditions of "Behold a Star" and "O Holy Night." Marble Collegiate Church in Manhattan is nationally known as the church where the Rev. Norman Vincent Peale, author of "The Power of Positive Thinking," was pastor for 52 years.
