Hanukkah events announced Chabad of the Conejo will present a number of events to celebrate Hanukkah. •Throughout the week leading up to Hanukkah, Chabad representatives will visit local Jewish schools and senior homes with olive press demonstrations. The workshop is a handson presentation of how olive oil, a symbol of the holiday, is made. •Chabad is sponsoring the "Marvelous Menorah Contest" for boy and girls up to age 15. Children may build an original menorah and bring it to the Grand Festival and Freedom Concert on Sun., Dec. 9. All entries will receive a prize. The top three winners will receive tickets to Universal Studios, an iPod or a bicycle. Call (818) 9910991 for details. •The Conejo Valley Friendship Circle will present a Hanukkah Festival from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sun., Dec. 2 at Willow Elementary School, 29026 Laro Drive, Agoura Hills. The children, teens and families will help construct and decorate a large wooden menorah. Chabad of the Conejo will sponsor the event, which includes food, music, puppet shows and live entertainment. Friendship Circle pairs volunteer teens with special needs children. The festival is open for all and will include a children's show, refreshments, entertainment and a menorah kindling. The free outdoor concert will include an interactive adventure game show, a floral menorah and lighting of the largest menorah in Agoura Hills. Admission and the concert are free; there is a nominal charge for food and crafts. •Chabad of Thousand Oaks will host a free Family Festival at the Janss from 5 to 7 p.m. Sun., Dec. 9 in the courtyard of Janss Marketplace. Activities include music, dignitaries, hot chocolate, refreshments and a menorah kindling. •The Chabad Youth Zone will celebrate Chanukah on Ice at The Lakes Shopping Center from 4 to 6 p.m. Mon., Dec. 10 at 2200 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks.
