Viewpoint alumnus wins journalism award

The National Scholastic Press Association awarded Viewpoint School's alumnus Jacob Combs an honorable mention in its 2007 "Story of the Year" competition.

Combs received the award for an editorial he wrote for Viewpoint's Upper School newspaper, The Patriot.

In the editorial published in March 2007, Combs pondered whether honor is a lost virtue, and recommended the creation and implementation of an honor code for students at Viewpoint.

Combs served as coeditor in chief of The Patriot in 2006-07.

Combs also served as assistant editor-in-chief, staff writer, and copy editor of The Patriot between 2004 and 2006.

He was the 2007 valedictorian at the Calabasas school and attends Brown University.
