Local radio drama wins big award

The Every Now and Then Theatre has won the 2007 International Davey Best-in-Show Award for their December 2006 radio drama broadcast of "Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story" on KVTA-AM.

The production was hosted by actor-author Cheryl Ladd and starred former Ventura resident Robert "Doc" Reynolds in his final Ventura County performance as Ebenezer Scrooge.

The Davey Awards is an international creative award focused on honoring work from small firms worldwide.

Earlier this year, the same broadcast won a 2007 OMNI Intermedia Award. The troupe has earned 14 awards- three national and 11 internationals- since entering competitions in 2003.

The Dickens tale was adapted for broadcast and co-directed by Linda Stiegler of Thousand Oaks and James Wortman of Ventura. Sound engineering and design was by David Tuomi of Thousand Oaks and Wortman.
