Tenth-grader wins design contest
Logo will promote school play 'Taming of Shrew'

SHREWD- Veronica Pounds displays her winning drawing.
Tenth-grader Veronica Pounds created the winning design for Oak Park High School's production of William Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew." The design is featured on posters, play programs, and cast and crew T-shirts.

Veronica, who is considering a major in fine arts after graduation, created the graphic of hands lacing up an old-fashioned boot to illustrate the Wild West setting of the play.

Showtimes for "Shrew" are 7 p.m. Thurs. through Sat., Nov. 15, 16 and 17, with a 2 p.m. matinee also on Nov. 17, at the Oak Park High School Pavilion.

Tickets are $10 for adults all shows. Prices for students and seniors are $7 for the evening shows and $5 for the matinee.

Art teacher Anna Lovejoy encouraged Veronica and other students to enter the design contest. Lovejoy would like to form a parent booster club for the visual arts.

The Oak Park Arts Angels would help create venues for fundraising, displaying student artwork and field trips to museums and galleries. Interested parties may e-mail Lovejoy at ALovejoy@opusd.k12.ca.us.
