'Thank you' from Malibu church

As many people know, Malibu Presbyterian Church was lost in the recent local fire. Also lost was the Malibu Presbyterian Nursery School which has served the communities of Malibu, Monte Nido, Calabasas and Agoura Hills for over 40 years.

The outpouring of love and support our staff has received has been overwhelming. While we can never adequately thank everyone, we would like to offer our sincerest thanks to the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center and especially Linda Schroeder.

Ms. Schroeder and the Community Center warmly welcomed us and allowed us to hold a mini preschool within days of losing our facility.

Being able to bring together our teachers and school families was extremely important after such a sudden and tragic loss. It allowed us the opportunity to assure our families that Malibu Presbyterian Nursery School will survive and continue. It also allowed the children to come together and play with their friends and teachers after several rather tense fire days.

Perhaps most importantly, the kindness shown by Ms. Schroeder and the Community Center allowed us the opportunity to come together to mourn the loss of our school building and to begin looking forward to our very bright future.

Malibu Presbyterian Nursery School has already reopened in temporary space generously provided by the Malibu Jewish Center. Like many who have been affected by the recent fires, these past few weeks have been a whirlwind of activity and change. We could never have foreseen being in this situation. More importantly, we could never have come so far, so fast without the help and support of so many in our community.

A very heartfelt thank you. Cindy Ludwig Director, Malibu Presbyterian Nursery School
