Countrywide layoffs ignored

I checked the recent Sheriff's Blotter for any mention of the recent rape and pillage at Countrywide. Enormous financial remuneration for their management team while overseeing huge financial losses necessitating in part massive firings were evidently no match for stolen IPods, backpacks or Halloween decorations.

The disgust with allegedly stolen campaign signs eclipsed any mention of the hundreds of millions of timely exercised stock options by Countrywide's managment while mutual funds, pension plans and millions of individuals watched their nest eggs shrink as the Countrywide stock lost significant value in real time.

So while I read the glowing- sadly, laughable- endorsements for candidates that vow to maintain the "village" environment, I have to wonder just how superficial we all are if the 12,000 villagers Countrywide fired get no mention from anyone, especially our outspoken, hard working, enthusiastic, thoughtful candidates only concerned with our well-being.
