Veterans of Foreign Wars post receives grant

Las Virgenes Post 7799 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars has received a grant from the Marilyn S. Broad Foundation to support the post's community patriotic programs. The check was presented by foundation member William Serviss to Arthur Borquist, post commander.

The post meets at 7:30 p.m. the second Wednesday of every month at the Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center. Veterans of the armed forces who served overseas during times of war and crisis are eligible to join.

The post sponsors activities such as the annual Voice of Democracy and Patriot's Pen programs in Las Virgenes schools, aid programs to veterans in hospitals and in need, food drives and Buddy Poppy sales.

Members include veterans of World War II and conflicts and wars in Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf, Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere.
