Wants open door discussion on Heschel West Ian Taras asks some broadbased questions and states some supposed facts that are pure fabrication or more likely wishful thinking. Asking "At what point will Old Agoura, which is seeing its voter base erode as the ranch hands sell out and the yuppies move in, actually come and sit down at the negotiation table to iron out their differences in a spirit of openness?" This is exactly the kind of stereotyping that Old Agoura residents are constantly labeled with by Heshel proponents. If you are an Old Agoura resident you must be either a NIMBY cowboy/ranch hand or now a yuppie. I am none of those stereotypes, but I am a 22-year resident of Old Agoura that appreciates the nonconforming nature of this unique community and what it takes to keep it that way. This is the very same community that Heschel School proponents are so willing to compromise for their own personal gain while telling us how they will be such a huge benefit to the whole community. As to that spirit of openness, I am sure Heschel's people were being upfront and open when they worked with Zev Yaroslavski behind closed doors to come up with and blindside the city and Old Agoura Homeowners Association with the now infamous interim plan. Heshel people also seem to believe that this project is such a huge benefit to the entire community that they don't need to or shouldn't have to talk with anyone at the city. According to Heshel's last few versions of the plan, it expects and relies on the city of Agoura Hills to pony up several million public dollars to mitigate the traffic nightmare the private Heshel School project will inflict onto Old Agoura. I would think that Mr. Taras and Heshel's people would want to get over to city hall to sit down and have a conversation or two with them about that issue, if nothing else. The density question on totally dissimilar and completely unrelated projects is ridiculous on its face, but if Mr. Taras is asking about it he and Heshel proponents would probably never understand that they are obviously comparing apples and oranges.
