City Calendar

The city of Agoura Hills Department of Community Services presents a variety of events and activities. For more information, call the Agoura Hills Recreation Center at (818) 597-7361 or stop by the Agoura Hills Recreation Center, 30610 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Agoura Hills.

•A "Balance for Life" class for seniors is held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays at the recreation center. Movement and exercises set to music build muscles to improve balance. The fee is $21 for a six-week session. Participants must be registered in the Senior Recreation Program.

•Beginning and intermediate tai chi classes for seniors 50 and older are offered from 9 to 10 a.m. (intermediate) and 10 to 11 a.m. (beginning) Mondays and Wednesdays at Reyes Adobe Park, 30400 Rainbow Crest Drive, Agoura Hills.

Tai chi is an exercise program that can improve balance and posture. There is a monthly fee of $29 or dropin fee of $4. Participants must be registered in the class and the Senior Recreation Program.

•The fall performance of the Community Concert Band, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the city of Agoura Hills, will be at 4 p.m. Sun., Nov. 18 at Yerba Buena Elementary School, 6098 Reyes Adobe Road in Agoura Hills.

•Qualified recreation leaders are needed. Responsibilities include monitoring department sites, working community special events, assisting with adult sports leagues and office coverage. Candidates should have group recreational activity leadership experience and knowledge of rules governing competitive group athletic games and sporting events.

The part-time position is 10 to 20 hours per week, including daytime, evening and weekends. Special requirements include possession of, or the ability to obtain, first aid/CPR certification.
