Scientist will discuss Martian landscape

The Ventura County Astronomical Society will hold its monthly membership meeting at 7:30 p.m. Fri., Nov. 16 in the multipurpose room at Mesa Union School, 3901 Mesa School Road, Somis.

Bruce Banerdt, a planetary geophysicist, will discuss "Prospecting for Water on Mars with Spirit and Opportunity," concerning evidence found by the Mars rovers that indicate there was water on the planet in its early history.

Banerdt has worked at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory since 1977 and earned a doctorate in geophysics at USC.
