Other local football matchups

IRIS SMOOT/Acorn Newspapers BETTER WATCH OUT- Moorpark quarterback Adam Barry, right, doesn't see the blindside pressure applied by Agoura's Matt McGinnis during last week's 33-27 Charger victory at home.
OCHS (4-3) vs. Grace Brethren (4-3)

Outlook: Losers of three of their last five games, the Oaks Christian Lions will look to extract a little revenge against an undermanned Grace Brethren squad.

Oaks Christian continues to get solid production from quarterback Chris Potter and running back Malcolm Jones, but the team's wide receivers and defense need to step up.

If wideout Chris Owusu (knee) is able to return this week, that should significantly help the OCHS passing attack.

Passing is what the Lancers do best. Junior quarterback Kevin Ramay has completed 132-of-251 attempts for 1,700 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also leads Grace Brethren with 344 rushing yards.

Nordhoff (4-2-1) at Oak Park (5-2)

Outlook: Coming off the euphoria of last week's win against Oaks Christian, the Oak Park Eagles must be wary of a letdown in this matchup.

Oak Park head coach Dick Billingsley said his team will stay focused on the task at hand.

"The one thing I've stressed in all my years here is taking it one game at a time," he said.

"These kids are very, very resilient, so I'm sure they'll handle it well."

Nordhoff has rushed for 1,411 yards this season and passed for only 580 yards. Suffice to say, Oak Park's rush defense will be tested again. In their win over Oaks Christian, the Eagles allowed OCHS to rush for 314 total yards.
